The main difference between the xDrive and Sync synchronization applications is that xDrive provides access across multiple computers with the cloud and local files being the same copy, does not occupy space, and has a cache clearing mechanism; Sync keeps a copy of files both locally and in the cloud, occupies local space, only synchronizes the sync folder, and allows offline access to files.
Item | xDrive | Sync |
|---|---|---|
Target Users | Access from multiple computers, consistent experience between local and cloud | Keeps one copy of files locally on the computer and one in the cloud |
Synchronization Method | Cloud and local are the same file; changes sync immediately | Cloud and local are two copies; changes sync immediately |
Storage Capacity | Does not occupy space, requires small amount of cache space | Occupies local computer space equal to cloud storage size |
Local Folder | MySyncFolder (My Sync Folder), Shared with Me, Project Folders(Business Edition Only) | Only synchronizes MySyncFolder (My SyncFolder) |
Offline Usage | Can access files cached locally; others require connection to access | Can access all local files offline; syncs to cloud when online |
Cache Clearing | After reaching local device limit(ex :10 GB), cache is automatically cleared based on access time; manual clearing can also be set | Not supported |
