When you log in to the ASUS WebStorage Web , you will see the following options in the left-hand menu:
- MySyncFolder
- [Backup] > [Cloud-Only Files]
- [Backup] > [Personal Device]
This article explains the differences between "MySyncFolder" and "Cloud-Only Files", and how you can store files in "Personal Device".
MySyncFolder: Suitable for frequently used files that need to sync across devices
Once you place files in MySyncFolder, all data will automatically sync between your computer and the cloud. You no longer need to manually move files between different devices.
For example, if you have a document that needs to be edited both at home and in the office, you can start working on the file on your home computer using MySyncFolder. When you return to the office, you can continue editing from your work computer. Any changes made on one device will automatically sync to your other devices once the synchronization is complete — including the ASUS WebStorage web version, desktop apps (Drive/Sync), and the mobile app.
Cloud-Only Files: Suitable for long-term storage and not frequently used files
"Cloud-Only Files" is for storing documents that do not need to be accessed regularly. When needed, simply download them from the cloud to save space on your computer and mobile devices.
For example, if you have a video file that you only use once every six months, you can upload it to "Cloud-Only Files" via the ASUS WebStorage Web to free up space on your computer. When you need to access it, just download it using ASUS WebStorage Web or mobile app.
Personal Device: Protect data on your local device
"Personal Device" refers to your computer or other local devices. This section stores all the files backed up from your local machine. You can check the number of devices that can be backed up by going to "Account Settings". This number varies depending on your current subscription plan.
If you use the ASUS WebStorage Sync App backup function or back up files from an ASUSTOR NAS to the cloud, those files will be stored in the "[Backup] > [Personal Device]" folder.
Note:
- If you accidentally delete files from your computer or ASUSTOR NAS, the same files already backed up to the cloud will not be deleted.
